You don’t just want to read the texts, but want to write them yourself? Then you are exactly right with us. The St. Gallen external editorial team is immediately looking for a new intern. You can find all information here,

Because the man did not show up at the agreed meeting point after some time, the police were alerted. The first search measures were immediately initiated and Alpine Rescue Switzerland was called. “When a search is triggered, the police decide which means are used and what is necessary,” said Roland Koster, spokesman for Kapo AI. The shorter the time between the disappearance and reporting to the police and the greater the chance of finding the missing person, the higher the squad, says Koster. In the present case, if the missing person’s report had been made three weeks later or so, one would not have deployed so many staff. Here, over two dozen mountain specialists from the Appenzell rescue station and a search dog team were on duty and combed the Chlustobel.

High costs for unnecessary use

The very impassable Tobel was also searched intensively from the Rega helicopter. Shortly after 6 p.m., the missing man appeared safely at his place of residence in the canton of St. Gallen. He had gone home on public transport without notifying his wife and son. The family has to pay the high cost of the search itself. According to Koster, these should amount to several thousand francs, the biggest cost point is likely to be the use of Rega.

According to the police spokesman, there is no clear guideline as to when an operation must be paid for and when not. The individual case had to be looked at and one had to weigh up how negligent the polluter was.

Not an isolated case

Occasionally, searches are triggered unnecessarily. In spring 2019 there was even one in Diessenhofen TG line Similar cases because of the same Wiffe in the high Rhine. A boat broke in May and a canoe capsized in June.

In both cases, a search was initiated because the incidents were observed by third parties and feared those in need and informed the police. However, the people were able to save themselves. The police operations were therefore unnecessary.
