“Our hearts go out to all Australians who are facing these devastating bush fires. Amazon is donating one million Australian dollars in supplies and necessary services.” It is on Instagram that Jeff Bezos announced this Sunday his solidarity with the Australian people who have been fighting for several years with devastating fires.
The man richest in the world, whose fortune is estimated at 117 billion dollars, has therefore promised financial aid to the Australian authorities. A help which caused mixed reactions on the social networks. The amount promised by Jeff Bezos which represents 690,000 US dollars represents only a tiny part of his fortune (barely 0.0006%).
This has not been overlooked by many Internet users on social networks who are ironic about the effort of the boss of Amazon.
“Jeff Bezos earns $ 149,340 per minute. So he gives 4.6 minutes of his money. If he had given a day, it would have represented $ 215 million, which would not have been enough,” said the surfer.
Jeff Bezos makes $ 149,340 a minute. So he is effectively donating 4.6 minutes of money. If he donated what he makes in a day, that would be $ 215 million, which would still not be enough. https://t.co/dl4R5VjdKB

Others noted that the richest man in the world was much less generous for the occasion than other personalities much less wealthy than him. This is the case of the Australian singer Nick Cave who recalls that the Metallica group had given 750,000 dollars, or 60,000 dollars more.
Just like star blogger Kylie Jenner who, although being much less wealthy than Jeff Bezos, donated a million dollars.
Internet users who call on the Amazon boss to raise his donation proposal. “If Amazon gave a day of its sales to fires in Australia, it would be 1000 times more than the donation of Bezos”, calls this surfer who gives the example of an American model who sold 750,000 dollars for nude photos for fires in Australia.
If Amazon did “Australian wildfires day” and donated all revenue from a single day of sales, they would raise almost 1,000x Bezos’s donation https://t.co/Mzo1ypiUL9
