The messenger service regularly updates its app, removing support for operating systems that are no longer updated. Currently located WhatsApp Beta for Android users in version 2.23.9.2. According to “WABetaInfo”, there are indications that Messenger will soon adjust its system requirements on a large scale.

To be sure which operating system your mobile phone uses, you have to check the “Phone information” or “Software information” settings. If the number is higher than 5.0 (for Android) or 12 (for iOs), there is no need to worry. Otherwise, a system update is necessary so that you don’t have to do without WhatsApp in the future.
Devices that cannot update to newer Android versions include the Galaxy S3 mini, the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Xcover 2 from the smartphone giant Samsung, as well as the HTC Desire X and the Motorola Razer Maxx.
