The United States Attorney’s Office has accused Prince Andrew of not cooperating with the investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The New York prosecutor Geoffrey Berman said on Monday that the prince had shown “zero cooperation” so far. Prince Andrew did not respond to a request from the FBI federal police.
Berman held a press conference outside Epstein’s former home in New York. Prince Andrew has admitted to being there in the past. The 59-year-old had agreed to help in the investigation of the Epstein scandal in November. The British royal family initially did not respond to a request for allegation by the New York prosecutor on Monday.
The prince, who was once friends with Epstein, had given up all his public functions last year after keen public criticism. Queen Elizabeth II’s second eldest son is accused of having sex with a then 17-year-old in 2001 who was forced to do so by Epstein. The prince denies the allegations.
Investigations continue
Epstein was found dead in a New York prison cell last August. According to forensic medicine, the 66-year-old committed suicide. He had been arrested a few weeks earlier on suspicion of trafficking in minors.
The investigation continues even after Epstein’s death. It is about the question of possible helpers of the multimillionaire.
