In the Australian city of Brisbane, three children and one adult were killed in a car fire. According to media reports, the man is said to be ex-rugby star Rowan Baxter. He died in the car with his three children, all under 10 years old.
The car was on fire when the helpers arrived, the Queensland police said on Wednesday. The wife of the killed Baxter was hospitalized with severe burns, the Australian news agency AAP reported.
Parents had custody battle
The cause of the fire was unclear. Neighbors heard an explosion. “The Australian” (Paid article) tells of an eyewitness who saw a woman flee from the burning car. She called: “He poured gasoline over me!”
Baxter is said to have had a custody dispute with his wife. The family lived in the region where the car fire happened. The case is under investigation.
