20 minutes – CS blocks Greenpeace with fake construction sites

The fired CS chief of staff, Pierre-Olivier Bouée, apparently not only ordered the surveillance of former management board members Peter Goerke and Iqbal Khan, but he also had Greenpeace spied on, as the “SonntagsZeitung” reports.

After activists from the environmental organization managed to disrupt the general assembly in the Zurich Hallenstadion with a spectacular campaign almost three years ago thanks to a security breach, Bouée instructed his chief of security to infiltrate Greenpeace.

In fact, Credit Suisse managed to get onto the list of planned actions by environmentalists. According to the report, Credit Suisse then tried to make it more difficult for the activists to demonstrate: the bank built fake construction sites in front of branches affected by demonstrations and closed off parts of the area.

Security guards were also posted in front of the construction sites. So it was possible to prevent the activists from getting into the building. Thanks to the previous knowledge, Credit Suisse was also able to inform the police very quickly.

The bank does not comment on the revelations because no information is given on security issues. Greenpeace said in a statement that they hadn’t noticed any of the defense tactics and were pursuing the notice.
