Halo: combat Evolved Reimagined in unreal Engine 5, Coming to PlayStation
Breaking: A complete remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, titled Halo: Campaign Evolved, is in progress utilizing Unreal Engine 5 and is slated for release in 2026 on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5 – marking the first time a Halo title will be available on PlayStation platforms.
Halo Studios is transitioning to Unreal Engine for future game development, with Campaign Evolved serving as the initial project. The remake will feature 4K visuals, updated animations, remastered music, and re-recorded voice acting. Developers are also incorporating select weapons and vehicles from later Halo installments and adding three bonus missions to the campaign.
While the remake will not include the original gameS online multiplayer, Halo: Campaign Evolved will support cooperative campaign play. Players can experience the campaign locally in split-screen with two players on consoles, or online with up to four players across Xbox, PC, and PS5.
“Without multiplayer, this remake has limited appeal,” notes KitGuru. “On Xbox and PC, we already have the Master Chief Collection, allowing us to play this campaign (and many others) in its original form, or with the Anniversary graphics, and there is full access to multiplayer. For PlayStation gamers though, this is an chance for many to play Halo for the very first time.”
