Italy is still on the ground because of Corona, but there is also good news from Genoa: A decisive milestone in the reconstruction of the collapsed motorway bridge is to be reached shortly.
After the devastating collapse of the bridge, the steel structure of the reconstruction should now be finished between next Friday and Sunday, the spokeswoman for the reconstruction, Erika Falone, told the German Press Agency on Sunday. After that, there would still be work to be done on the bridge, such as asphalt pavement, lighting, sewage systems and the like.
It has not yet been finally clarified when the bridge could be opened again, says Falone. Possibly at the end of June, but you have to wait for the work on the bridge to proceed. The viaduct collapsed in August two years ago, 43 people died. Star architect Renzo Piano designed the new building. Construction continued despite the Corona pandemic.
