20 minutes – Italo rapper hits a hit with Corona song

Behind the stage name Bello Figo is the Italian Paul Yeboah from Ghana. The 27-year-old is quite successful in the cyber world with a total of 865,000 subscribers on YouTube and Instagram.

That’s how it’s done: Install the latest version of the 20-minute app. On the home screen, tap the three strips at the top right, then tap the gear. At the bottom of «Themes», slide the bar on «People» to the right – it’s already going.

On Instagram the 20-minute people team is also on the go.

With his provocative, vulgar Youtube songs, which are intentionally recorded in poor quality, he has become a social media star. At the beginning, the trash rapper was still known as Bello Figo Gucci, but did not add it when the Italian fashion house sued him.

His most successful song “I Don’t Pay Rent” has been on YouTube since October 2016 and has now over 26 million views. However, his corona hit could outperform these streams – after three days he got over a million views.

In his latest song “Coronavirus” he raps about how he is afraid of Covid-19. “Everyone knows I’m afraid of the corona virus,” says Bello Figo in Italian. “Many people in China are infected,” continues the text. “A lot of people want to kill me, now the corona virus.”

In the video for the song, the rapper makes hamster purchases in the supermarket

Then it becomes less adult: “I can no longer get out of the house, I can’t even kiss. We just want to have sex, we just want to lick. »

In addition to the millions of views, the song on Spotify recorded almost 150,000 plays three days after the release. Most of the streams currently come from Italy. Most of the comments on the YouTube clip are written in Italian.

One user writes: «When I listened for the first time, I thought to myself:‹ What is it? ›The second time:‹ Well, it’s not that bad. ›And the third time I was like:‹ Corona virus, corona virus, corona virus! › ».

There are also points for his crown, made out of 50-euro notes: “The bandana made of banknotes exudes poetry,” says a comment that has been liked 2000 times.

This user receives over 4000 likes for his review, which is probably not meant very seriously: «Bello Figo gives free rein to his hedonism and combines the horror of the epidemic with the morbid desire to satisfy his sinful instincts. A heavy, hard, dark piece. »

How much money a YouTube video makes is difficult to estimate. In addition to the views, many factors play a role, including the quality of the traffic, the country of origin, whether it is a niche video or the price of the respective ads that YouTube plays in the video.

According to Socialblade.com’s calculation tool, the YouTube rapper could have made up to CHF 4,500 in three days with his daily around 400,000 views of “Coronavirus” – but it could have been as little as CHF 300.

Bello Figo is the most successful corona musician to date. In fact, there are a few other artists who have jumped on the corona virus band and have achieved hundreds of thousands of views.

For example, the rapper Yofrangel, who also comes from Italy and has so far generated over 700,000 views on YouTube with his reggaeton number «Corona Virus».

Parodies of the epidemic are also clicked diligently. For example, Kathy Makattack’s corona parody of the song “Torn” by Natalia Imbruglia or Alvin Oon with his Covid 19 version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic “Sound of Silence”.
