20 minutes – Elton John has to tear down the concert

Close to tears, British pop singer Elton John had to cancel a concert in New Zealand. In the middle of his appearance, the 72-year-old announced on Sunday evening to his fans in Auckland that he was suffering from pneumonia.

Do you like Elton John’s music?

That’s how it’s done: Install the latest version of the 20-minute app. On the home screen, tap the three strips at the top right, then tap the gear. At the bottom of «Themes», slide the bar on «People» to the right – it’s already going.

On Instagram the 20-minute people team is also on the go.

“I can’t sing, I just lost my voice,” Elton John lets the audience know. In videos (above!) of the sold-out concert you can see the singer standing up in front of his piano and shrugging his shoulders apologetically: «I have to go, I’m really sorry.» The singer left the stage with his head bowed and with the help of his team.

“Until my voice could no longer”

Elton John later contacted Instagram and thanked the concert goers for their understanding. «I was determined to offer you the best show ever. I sang my soul out of my body until my voice could no longer “, said the musician.

“I am disappointed, deeply upset and sorry,” said Elton John, “I gave everything I could give.” He thanks his fans for the support he felt during the performance.

The tour continues

Elton John is currently on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour, which started in 2018 and is slated to end in London later this year. The legendary musician will have played over 300 concerts by the end of his tour – two of them on October 6th and 7th in the already sold-out Zurich Hallenstadion.

As various international media reports, Elton John now only takes a short break before the concert marathon continues this week. The remaining shows in Auckland have been postponed by one day, but are still taking place.
