The points of light moved across Switzerland. They were sighted in Kreuzlingen as well as in the Valais and in western Switzerland. Sightings from the Uetliberg in the canton of Zurich were also reported.
The resolution
According to a reader reporter, the points of light flew across the sky at high speed. The lights were traveling from south to north. “The spectacle certainly lasted ten minutes,” says a reader reporter. The lights were flown one behind the other with an almost perfect distance.
Many readers assumed that the light points are satellites. And indeed: the chain of lights in the sky was Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite. The satellites have been moving around the earth like a chain of lights since May 2019 and keep causing a stir.
The satellites are expected to enable Internet access in the US from mid-2020. There are well over 100 Starlink satellites in orbit.
