These holiday countries are (almost) corona-free – Wel.nl

The countries where many Dutch people vacation – France, Spain and Italy – were at the center of the epidemic. And the situation there is still shaky.

There are some holiday countries where measures were taken quickly and effectively, so that the virus has managed less and is now virtually gone. So countries where it may be safe to go. HLN made an overview.

Montenegro

The Balkan country with 640,000 inhabitants on the Adriatic Sea has not known new infections with the corona virus for more than twenty days.

Slovenia

With 1471 infections and 108 deaths, the small country with 2 million inhabitants has been relatively spared. In the past week, only three people were infected.

Iceland

Ten out of 1,805 people who contracted the virus in Iceland died.

Croatia

Croatia recorded its first infection on February 25. The number rose to 2,244 cases and 101 people died from the lung disease.

Greece

In total, the country had 2,903 cases and 173 deaths. Greece has been able to control the epidemic throughout its course.

Malta

Malta (493,000 inhabitants) also fared well with a total of 612 infections and 7 coronavirus deaths. There was one infection on May 27, none at all on May 26, and on May 24 and 25 only 2 cases were involved. The island in the Mediterranean is therefore almost corona-free.

Cyprus

With 939 infections and only 17 deaths, the island can present favorable statistics.

Slovakia

Slovakia (5.5 million inhabitants) has so far registered 1,520 infections and counted 28 deaths. The country has therefore weathered the corona crisis very well.
