In the autumn-winter period, the susceptibility to respiratory viral infections increases. The epidemic threshold of SARS has been exceeded in 47 regions of Russia, according to Rospotrebnadzor.

In view of the ongoing pandemic coronavirus it is important to be able to distinguish this illness from the flu or cold. The symptoms of the diseases are similar, but there are differences, they said in the Telegram channel of Rospotrebnadzor.

Typical signs of influenza are lack of strength, joint pain, headache. A cold is manifested by a runny nose, sneezing, sore throat. With coronavirus, such symptoms do not appear often, sneezing never at all.

Shortness of breath, typical of influenza, does not occur with coronavirus. The headquarters of the department said that in most cases the coronavirus passes without lung damage and without shortness of breath.

It is noted that coronavirus infection spreads more slowly than influenza, since it has a longer incubation period, but the percentage of critical cases with coronavirus is higher.

Experts note that the coronavirus shows the following symptoms: fever, dry cough, diarrhea, conjunctivitis, skin rashes, loss of taste and smell, chest pains, speech disorders. The exact diagnosis is determined after passing special testing.

Influenza is more difficult for children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with chronic diseases. Covid most commonly affects the elderly and people with chronic diseases.

As of November 4, 18,648 cases of covid infection were recorded in Russia, 355 people died.
