Chocolate-fed cows for a unique-tasting meat. It costs hundreds of dollars a kilogram

Chocolate consumption is scientifically proven to provide a state of well-being, due to the fact that it leads to increased production of endorphins and dopamine. And if it works for humans, why not go for cows?

Well, it works. The owner of a farm near Mount Gambier, Australia, has discovered the perfect way for his cows to have the best meat: feed them chocolate, says CNN.

In addition to chocolate, cows also eat other sweets, including biscuits. This diet is followed by cows at Mayura Station, a 3,000-hectare farm founded in 1845.

In recent months, each cow has received two kilograms of chocolate, but also other goodies.

The outcome? The meat, which costs quite a lot ($ 300 per about half a kilogram) and is called Wagyu, meaning Japanese beef, has a unique flavor and reaches 70% of the tables in China, Hong Kong and Dubai.

The chocolate offered to cows comes from recently expired or non-compliant lots and is purchased even from famous brands such as Cadbury.

The owner of the farm, Scott de Bruin, said that the reaction of the people was very good after he started feeding his cows with chocolate. “People used to say, ‘Your meat tastes special. We like it,'” said Scott de Bruin.
