Meta said it is constantly working to improve the security of its apps and ensure users’ privacy. “For WhatsApp, a new feature called Chat Lock will now help with this,” the company announced on its website website.
People will not have to worry that their intimate messages will be read by a stranger. When they lock a chat, the conversation is moved from the inbox to a separate folder.
“They can only access this folder after entering a password or using biometric data such as a fingerprint. In addition, the content of the chat is automatically hidden in notifications,” it says directly on pages WhatsApp u.
According to the company, this function could be especially appreciated by those who occasionally lend their mobile phone to someone close to them. “You can lock a chat by tapping on the name of a private or group chat and selecting the Lock option,” the experts explained.
Meta is already gradually introducing the function and plans to add more options in the coming months. One of them will be, for example, locking conversations on other devices on which users use the application, or creating their own password so that people do not have to use the same password as on their phone.
