Sonic’s father leaves Square Enix after Balan Wonderworld. Yuji Naka may retire

Balan Wonderworld was released in March to a number of different platforms and to the surface it looked relatively entertaining. The fact that one of Sonic’s creators, Yuji Naka, was behind the game further heightened interest. Then the game was released and it felt like it was developed with a bit outdated game thinking. The game was never a great success and in Japan, 2100 copies of the game were sold during the release week.

It has now become known that Yuji Naka will leave Square Enix, but he does not say why he will leave the building. What the situation looks like for the future is also a bit unclear and Naka writes that he is still 55 years old and it may happen that he retires.
