Italy will take tougher action against the unvaccinated

The government approved a decree on Wednesday that would require a certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 or transmission of the disease for most of public life from 6 December.

Covid-19 certification is required for admission to bars, restaurants and events.

The new rules will be valid until January 15. They will then remain in force in the regions identified as coronavirus zones.

From 15 December, people working in schools, the police, rescue services and the health service administration, as well as soldiers, will have to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Doctors and other health care workers who get vaccinated in the spring will need a booster dose.

The new rules will make life difficult for people who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19.

The rules, which until now only applied to long-distance journeys on public transport, will now also apply to hotels, all public transport and regional railways.

The validity of Covid-19 certificates will be reduced from 12 months to nine.

In Italy, the coronavirus has recently spread significantly faster, with almost 12,500 new cases of Covid-19 and 85 deaths in the country on Wednesday.
