General practitioner suspended after missing brain tumor – Wel.nl

The disciplinary committee has suspended a general practitioner for three months, two of whom on parole, because he was careless and missed a brain tumor.

The patient in question had filed a complaint against the doctor. She had got a headache while traveling and called the doctor from her holiday address. Then she decided to go home. In her own country, she consulted the doctor twice. He first thought of migraines, then of bowel problems.

The doctor left for vacation and the woman consulted a colleague. She sent her to the hospital, where the tumor was diagnosed.

The Commission states that there has been no good and extensive research that is the guideline for an issue like this. In addition, the doctor has been sloppy before, for which he has been reprimanded.

The conditional part of the suspension is subject to a two-year trial period.
