Does Returnal need a savings system? Some players seem to want it

Returnal was released last Friday for Playstation 5 and delivers one of the sharpest gaming experiences PS5 has to offer right now. The game is a roguelike game and has no save feature, which means that if you turn off the game, you will lose your successes during the round and have to start over. If you want to take a break without losing anything in the game, you must put the game in power save mode. Some players have since release pointed out that this system does not really suit them and have begged and asked for a slightly more proper savings system. Housemarque recently announced that they have taken on the criticism, but at the moment they have no plans to implement a more comprehensive savings system and ask players to take advantage of the challenge.

This is of course a bit of sad news for people who really want, or need, a comprehensive savings system. But in the name of honesty, it’s not needed and as the developers write, it’s best to keep playing and enjoy the challenges the game offers.
