The rise in natural gas and electricity prices on the stock exchange will affect hundreds of thousands of Czechs. According to experts, their price will rise even more and it could not stabilize until the spring of next year. According to representatives of the largest Czech suppliers of gas and electricity, however, no significant increase in prices for customers is planned this year.
Gas and electricity suppliers are currently struggling with prices and rising prices. The price per megawatt-hour of electricity with delivery for next year has risen by more than 150 percent this year. For gas, it is even more than threefold.
In addition, energy prices on stock exchanges have remained at record, extremely high levels for a very long time. Economists therefore advise people to prepare for an increase in energy prices, as it is clear that it cannot be avoided.
The increase in prices has already been acknowledged by several of the largest Czech suppliers. On the contrary, some of them stated that they are not going to increase the price yet. “We will not increase prices this year. A if there is anything in the first quarter of next year, it will depend on the development of the situation with the stock market price, “ PRE spokesman Tomáš Holubec told TN.cz.
However, the company slightly adjusted electricity prices on September 1, by about seven percent, gas prices remained the same. E.ON has admitted a smaller price increase, but when this will happen, it is not yet clear.
“But we will also have to respond to high purchase prices and partially take them into account in our price lists for customers. However, we can assure our customers that the current high prices on stock exchanges will only be partially reflected in their price lists and that the effects of current developments will certainly not affect them in full. Of course, this does not apply to our clients who have products with a fixed price, the agreed price applies throughout the contract, “said E.ON. spokesman Roman Šperňák.
The largest domestic gas supplier, Innogy Energie, will adjust prices from November 20. The total annual payment for the supply of gas for households and small customers will increase by an average of 10.6 percent for the basic Standard product, which is approximately CZK 200 in the case of an ordinary family house.
“We assume that at the most common rate it should be thirty percent on the invoice. If someone with us has an active fixation, then of course we will adhere to it, “ CEZ spokesman Roman Gazdík informed that the company will not announce the changes until November 1.
The Czechs must thus prepare for the rise in price, but it is still not clear when it will take place. “The situation will be critical in the coming months,” predicts economist Lukáš Kovanda.
