Thus, a total of 16 people have been approved for Covid-19 so far.
Information received by the SPC today on six confirmed cases indicates that two patients are epidemiologically linked to Spain, while the others are to Italy, Austria and Switzerland.
One patient with a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19 is currently being treated in hospital. SPKC information indicates that the patient was infected from a relative who returned from Switzerland, where Covid-19 cases were reported.
SPKC reminds that all cases of Covid-19 infection in Latvia have been brought in by travelers who have returned from the countries affected by the new coronavirus infection. In total, more than 200 persons under the supervision of a family doctor have been quarantined in Latvia.
The SPKC draws attention to the fact that people returning from the trip should evaluate their daily progress, monitor their health for 14 days and, if symptoms occur, call 113. Also, these 14 days should refrain from visiting seniors or meeting people with chronic illnesses.
According to the SPKC, 41 laboratory examinations on “Covid-19” have been performed in Latvia during the last 24 hours, but in total 332 persons have been examined so far.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Gebreiesus announced on March 11 that the outbreak of the new coronavirus had reached the level of a global pandemic.
Taking into account the above, the Prime Minister of Latvia Krišjānis Kariņš (JV) has convened a meeting of the CPS today at 2 pm, the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Sandris Sabajevs informed LETA.
