The People’s Liberation Army of China should focus on preparing for a real battle, President Xi Jinping said Wednesday, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to local media, in a seminar in Beijing on national defense and military reform, the Chinese leader sent a series of instructions to the participants.
Xi Jinping stressed that the military should “focus on preparing to engage in real military operations”. The Chinese leader also announced the need to continue firmly on the path of achieving the previously outlined objectives of the reform.
In 2015, Chinese authorities announced plans to significantly reform their armed forces to increase their effectiveness. Xi Jinping is trying to create an ultra-modern army capable, if necessary, of repelling any enemy. According to him, the most important requirement for the army is its combat capability.
After the start of the reforms, strategic missile forces were created, which currently, together with the ground, air, naval forces and the People’s Armed Police, constitute the Chinese armed forces, clarifies RIA Novosti.
China has called for a “ceasefire through dialogue and consultation” after President Vladimir Putin announced a partial military mobilization in Russia, AFP reports.
“We urge interested parties to implement a truce through dialogue and consultation and to find a solution that meets the legitimate security concerns of all parties as soon as possible,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said.
