Merdeka.com – A 30,000 year old mummified baby mammoth was found in permafrost by a gold miner in Yukon, Klondike, Canada.
The mummy of a baby mammoth was found intact and had food residue in its stomach because it was perfectly preserved naturally.
This 1.4 meter mummy was later given the name “Nun cho ga” or “big animal baby.”
Analysis showed the baby mammoth mummy was female and about one year old when it died.
In addition, grass was also found in the stomach of this baby mammoth. There is a possibility that he died stuck in the mud and the food has not been digested.
Yukon Government Department of Tourism and Culture paleontologist Grant Zazula said he felt lucky to meet this mummy.
“Nun cho ga is beautiful and one of the most extraordinary ice age animal mummies ever found in the world. I’m excited to get to know him further,” said Zazula, as reported by the Live Science page.

This working tool suddenly bumped into something in the mud, and it turned out to be a 30,000 year old mammoth mummy.
This is not the first time a mammoth mummy has been found in a gold mining area.
The remains of a mammoth cub nicknamed “Effie” were previously found in an Alaskan gold mine, United States, in 1948.
Woolly mammoths became extinct 5,000 years ago. During their lifetime, they roam the northern polar ice plains of Europe, Asia, and the United States.
