Mexico City — This weekend, from March 15 to 18, the first mega bridge will take place in Mexico’s basic education schools in 2024, a few days before the start of the Easter holidays.
Classes will be suspended on Friday, March 15, 2024 due to administrative download, when teachers upload their students’ grades to the digital platform of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).
The suspension of classes will be extended until Monday, March 18, because the third Monday in March officially commemorates the birth of Benito Juárez, who was president of Mexico in the mid-19th century, and is known for the promulgation of the Reformation laws, which established the separation between church and state.
March 18 also commemorates in Mexico the oil expropriation carried out by President Lázaro Cárdenas in 1938. The date is not officially considered a holiday.
When are the 2024 Easter holidays in Mexico?
The suspension of classes occurs one week before the Easter holidays begin. The SEP 2023-2024 School Calendar establishes that the vacation period will begin on Monday, March 25, and will end on Friday, April 5, 2024.
Students will return to classrooms on Monday, April 8.
