Versli Lietuva, an agency of the Lithuanian Ministry of Economy and Investment, reports that during the Macrona visit to Vilnius, 30 French businessmen together with 70 Lithuanian businessmen participated in a business forum and bilateral meetings initiated by both Lithuanian and French parties.

Why such a business forum did not take place in Riga either, and whether French entrepreneurs are not interested in Latvia, Jauns.lv explains Filips Tālbergs, Head of the Export Promotion Division of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA):
“The visit was organized by the Chancellery of the President, and the task of LIAA was to prepare a 30-minute presentation on the offer of Latvian technology companies. It should be emphasized that during the visit to Latvia, the President of France Emanuel Macron was not accompanied by a business delegation, therefore it was not planned to organize a business forum. The presentation prepared by LIAA in the National Library of Latvia was acquainted with the French Minister of State for European Affairs Clement Bonn and his accompanying delegation. Several Latvian companies are already cooperating with France. One of the most visible examples is the company “Groglass”, which has supplied the famous Louvre Museum in Paris with its special glass coatings, as well as offered to participate in the renovation of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Companies such as Tilde, UAV Factory, LightSpace Technologies and Groglass participated in the presentation of Latvian companies to the French Minister of State for European Affairs and their accompanying delegation.
The representatives of the French delegation were pleasantly surprised by the offer of Latvian companies in the field of innovations, showing special interest in the virtual assistant presented by the company “Tilde”. France plans to introduce such solutions for efficient work organization during its 2022 presidency of the European Union. At the end of the visit, the possibilities of further bilateral cooperation with France in the field of business were also discussed. “
Daina Klepone, General Director of Versli Lietuva, said about the Lithuanian-French Business Forum: “Although trade volumes vary greatly between countries, France’s trade capacity opens up great potential for Lithuania. We can already see that our business cooperation makes a significant contribution to our economy, and the companies that attended the meeting can contribute to economic growth. France is one of Lithuania’s priority export markets, where the Lithuanian furniture, traditional and high-tech engineering industries have great potential. We pay great attention to the development of these industries’ exports to France. “
