Two hairdressers from the US state of Missouri had the coronavirus among the members in mid-May. They already had complaints, while still helping 140 customers. Nobody got infected. It is being investigated how this is possible.
The hairdressers and customers all wore mouth masks. Wherever possible, a distance was kept. Of the 140 customers and 7 colleagues, 46 were tested. The others had to be quarantined for two weeks. No infection is linked to the hair salon.
“This is good news when it comes to the use of face masks to prevent contamination,” regional health director Clay Goddard told CNN. “We are still studying the situation in detail. For example, we look at the type of mouth masks that were worn and what other precautions were taken. ”
It has long been argued that face masks only provide false security, but the WHO, backed by several studies, is now returning to this. The advice is to wear face masks in public space.
