The police are looking for a suspect who they say struck eight people in a shootout in front of a bar in North Side, in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday night.
The shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Rebar, a bar on the block, 8000 Broadway, just south of Loop 410, around 11.30 in the night, according to the head of the Police Department of San Antonio William McManus, reported KSAT in the early morning of this Saturday.
Five women and three men, between 23 and 41 years, were shot, but no deaths have been reported up to now, stated the aforementioned means.
“They are all in stable conditions, the most serious thing was that someone was hit in the back,” said McManus, who added that six of the victims went for themselves to the hospitals. Two people were rozadas for the bullets and refused the treatment.
The police are scouring the area in search of the gunman, who fled the scene in a vehicle after shooting several rounds. McManus said he does not believe that there is an immediate risk to the residents in the area.
The shooting in Texas occurred after the suspect and a group that was denied entry to the bar because he was intoxicated, said McManus in a brief conference at the site near the 1.00 in the morning.
After being denied entry, the man asked the bar staff if I knew who he was and added that it was a “UFC fighter from California,” mentioned McManus.
Then, the suspect crossed the street towards the vehicle in which he was traveling, pulled out a rifle and opened fire in the parking lot, police said.
Officers are investigating the site and reviewing images from surveillance to identify the suspect and to reconstruct what happened, he said.
Before the shooting in Texas, and the man had been in another nearby bar with a group of three or four other people, between men and women, explained McManus.
