They announce the opening of another shelter for asylum seekers

Mayor Adams announces that a fifth Humanitarian Response Center will soon open inside the Brooklyn Marine Terminal to continue to address the influx of asylum seekers to the five boroughs.

The estimated number of migrants who have arrived since the spring already exceeds 41,000.

The new shelter will serve adult males and provide them with a range of services, including ensuring they reach their desired destination if it is out of town.

The facility will support them until its scheduled closure when the cruise season begins in the spring.

Adult males who arrived in New York without family and who until now had stayed at the Watson Hotel in Hell’s Kitchen will also be channeled to the new facilities.

The new center is expected to accommodate around 1,000 asylum seekers to provide medical care, food, laundry service, as well as support to reconnect with their loved ones.

In addition, he added that the Watson hotel will make a change, becoming a shelter for asylum-seeking families with children.
