One-time material support is provided to families with triplets, by paying a social benefit from the state budget program “Contingency Funds”.
Since 1993, one-time material support has been provided to families with triplets by paying social benefits. The amount of one-time social benefit in case of birth of triplets in 2010-2013 was 6000 lats after taxes, but since 2014 – 8538 euros after taxes. The benefit is paid by the Ministry of Welfare.
The one-off social benefit is intended for the material support of a family in which the triplets were born, taking into account that the simultaneous birth and care of three children results in significantly higher additional expenses.
In 2013, the one-time social benefit was paid to one family, in 2014 – to five families, in 2015 – to three families, in 2016 – to two families, in 2017 – to two families, in 2018 – to four families, but in 2019 – for one family.
In June, triplets were born in the Riga Maternity Hospital. All three newborns are boys.
