Globo Esporte gives, this Friday, the guarantee that Vítor Pereira is close to becoming the new Flamengo coach. The negotiations have been going on for about 10 days and “the parties are optimistic about an agreement”, anticipates Globo Esporte.
If confirmed, Vítor Pereira will replace Dorival Júnior, who is leaving despite winning the Libertadores and Taça do Brasil, and will return to Brazilian football shortly after leaving Corinthians.
Citing family reasons, in this case the state of health of his mother-in-law, the Portuguese coach did not want to renew with the San Paolo club and his departure was announced on 13 November.
«I am very sad because I wanted to continue this project, but I have no chance. I don’t go to any club, I don’t go anywhere. I’m going home, I have to help stabilize a bit the disease process of my mother-in-law, who lives in my house. That’s why I have to go back. I wanted to stay here, but I can’t,” said Vítor Pereira to justify his farewell to Timão.
