On a visit to South Sudan, Danish photographer Jan Grarup met a young man wearing the so-called Milan shirt and, through social media, reported on the situation.
“In a village called Canal, close to the Nile River, I met a special kid in his old AC Milan shirt. It was very used, had already been patched many times. We talked and made a deal: I’ll buy you a new shirt and give me that one! He was more than happy and must have thought I was crazy. Maybe it is… But for me that shirt represents art, dedication and love», wrote Jan Grarup, who intends to auction the shirt and the money will revert to UNICEF.
