Tencent battles Twitch

Tencent are everywhere, including with their streaming platform Trovo Live. It will likely launch officially soon, and the company is ready to take on Twitch.

Tencent would soon officially launch its own streaming platform called Trovo Live. That reports Bloomberg.

I find Live, formerly Madcat, is currently in beta phase. The platform focuses on mobile titles, although games like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Destiny 2 are also featured by Tencent. Trovo is very similar to Twitch in function and layout. This allows users to explore live channels, chat on the side of the screen, and subscribe.

Tencent is also launching one for content creators partner program, called Trovo 500. It divides streamers into a rankings with different monthly rewards ranging from $ 600 to $ 4200 per month. For this, content creators must meet various requirements, such as a certain number of stream hours and followers. Tencent has earmarked $ 30 million for the program.

It is not known whether the platform will also officially launch in Europe. Currently the beta version accessible.

Last week, Microsoft announced that it would discontinue its streaming service Mixer completely due to a partnership with Facebook Gaming. At the moment, Twitch is still the largest streaming platform.
