For those who are thinking of changing insurers, the Association of Insureds (BdV) has the following tips ready: One month before the end of the insurance year, usually the end of the calendar year, at the latest The old insurer has given notice of termination so that the insurance contract can be properly terminated.

For example, a good motor vehicle liability contract should provide a lump sum coverage of at least 100 million euros for personal, property and financial losses. In comprehensive insurance, the insurer should dispense with the objection of grossly negligent causing the insured event. Damage caused by animals of all kinds should be insured via the game damage clause. The consumer advocates advise that damage caused by marten bites on hoses or cabling as well as consequential damage should also be insured, at least up to 3,000 euros.

Anyone who has previously taken out discount protection – this prevents the downgrading to a lower no-claims class in the event of a loss-affected history – should carefully consider switching to a new motor vehicle insurer. Because the reinsurer is only confirmed the actually experienced no-claims discount (SFR) without discount protection.

If you are satisfied with your previous motor vehicle insurer and would like to remain insured there, you may still be able to save your premium.
