Schools in England will be given carbon monitors

The Ministry of Education said it would invest £ 25 million (€ 29 million) to provide around 300,000 monitors to all publicly funded schools from September.

These portable monitors will allow schools and colleges to assess whether ventilation needs to be improved and to take steps to release indoor air that may contain particles of the new coronavirus.

Education unions, with the support of the Liberal Democrats, had called on Education Minister Gevin Williamson to take action to improve ventilation in schools in response to concerns about the risks of Covid-19 to school staff and pupils in the autumn.

The project gives priority to special schools and alternative education institutions.

The government has also begun testing air purifiers in 30 schools in Bradford to assess the technology in educational institutions and see if it reduces the risk of carrying Covid-19.
