Russia supplies liquefied petroleum gas to Bulgaria

Russia begins supplying liquefied petroleum gas to Bulgaria through the Black Sea port of Poti in Georgia. This is necessary because traditional export routes remain closed, Reuters reported.

About 3,000 tons of LPG from Surgut will be transported by rail to the city of Poti, and then by sea ferry to the Bulgarian city of Varna. Gazprom and Surgutneftegaz supply their quantities of propane-butane from Surgut.

LNG shipments via Poti are being planned due to limited sales opportunities on other major export routes,” an industry source said.

According to traders, Bulgaria consumes about 30,000-35,000 tons of propane-butane per month. It itself produces about 10,000 tons per month, and the rest is imported from Romania and Russia.
