Trump escaped a historic second impeachment 57:43 Senate voted to veto-International-China Times News

After a five-day trial, the U.S. Senate voted today (13th) on the impeachment clauses accusing former President Trump of inciting rebellion. The final vote was 57 in favor and 43 against, which was less than two-thirds of the Senate’s votes ( Guilty vote) rejected. This is the second time Trump has escaped impeachment in the Senate in 12 months.

Of the 100 seats in the Senate, the Democratic Party holds 50 seats. To be convicted of impeachment, at least 17 Republican senators need to rebel and all the Democratic senators support in order to pass. The U.S. ruling and opposition parties generally believed that the likelihood of Trump being convicted was very low. The result of the voting was not unexpected. 57 votes in favor and 43 votes against, which did not reach two-thirds of the votes in the Senate, and the second impeachment was rejected.

The Democrats today need at least 17 Republican senators to turn their backs before the impeachment is possible. On the eve of the vote, a source revealed that Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell expressed support for acquitting Trump. He recently stated to the party that he would allow them to vote with conscience. Today’s vote turned out to be 7 Republican senators, which is less than the 17 required.

The 7 Republican members are: Richard Burr, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski , Mitt Romney (Mitt Romney), Ben Sasse (Ben Sasse), Pat Toomey (Pat Toomey).
