“PS5 Sales and Success Surpass Previous Generations: Updates on Playstation VR2 and Showcase”

The PlayStation 4 console was a successful generation for Sony, with sales exceeding 117 million units. It thus surpassed the PS3 (87.4 million) and the first PlayStation (102.49 million). Sony expects similar success from the PS5. The president and CEO himself is very optimistic that the PS5 will sell more than 108.4 million units in its lifetime. By March 2023, 38.4 million units had been delivered to stores.

The PS5 is already selling great, the situation with the production and supply of consoles to the market compared to last year stabilized and the new generation is beginning to surpass the old in all respects. Interestingly, compared to the same stage of life, the PS5 has a higher expenditure per console. This means that PS5 owners spend more money.

Sony expects the PS5 to surpass the PS4 in all key metrics by the end of fiscal year 2023. These metrics include software (physical, digital,) add-ons, subscriptions (PS Plus), controllers or VR, without purchasing the console itself.

It is necessary to stop here, because we must not forget that PS5 games are more expensive by 10 dollars/euros. Prices for services, including PS Plus, have also increased.

We also learned about sales PlayStation VR2. The second generation of virtual reality sold more than 600 thousand units from 2/22/2023 to 4/5/2023. The first generation PS VR sold 550,000 sets in the first six weeks.

Current and future PS VR2 owners can look forward to Resident Evil 4, Beat Saber, Fogland, Green Hell VR, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, Behemoth, Crossfire: Sierra Squad or Synapse, among others.
