A man, who had come with his daughter to meet a medical appointment at Total Health on Carrera 43 with Calle 70, died on the morning of this Tuesday, outside the EPS.
Cherdery Hernández, daughter of the deceased, explained that he arrived at the medical center because his father – Walco Hernández – had an appointment at 9:30 in the morning.
He indicated that the 48-year-old man suffered from hypertension and since Monday had begun to feel severe chest pain, so he decided to call at 2:00 in the morning to make the appointment.
“Since yesterday he had become ill, with difficulty in his chest, I made an appointment at 2:00 am and they told me that if it was for COVID-19 the appointment would be given within two weeks”, said.
He said that when he said that it was urgent and that he did not have coronavirus, they assigned him the appointment for 9:00 am However, he took his father from 7:30 am due to the serious state of health in which he was.
“I went to the door and said (to the staff) look, my dad is wrong, I gave him my ID and told my dad to wait a moment in the parking lot; When I wanted to see, my dad started to back away and passed out… he died in my arms, ”said Cherdery Hernández.
The woman assured that at that moment a doctor approached and that her father was still breathing, but he said to her: “Sorry, nothing can be done anymore.”
The COVID patrol arrived at the scene to take charge of the situation and those who took the sample to determine if the man had died from the virus.
For its part, the EPS Salud Total regretted the death of Walco Hernández and assured that this person does not register requests for prior medical attention with the EPS.
However, they stated that he had a general medicine face-to-face appointment at 9:37 in the morning at the Basic Care Unit July 20.
They explained that at 8:40 am a relative of the deceased appeared in the care unit for the appointment scheduling and pretriage process -which is done following the protocols and guidelines of prevention and protection- and that at the time of generation In the previous process, the assistance personnel were alerted to an unusual situation in the public parking lot of the shopping center where the medical headquarters is located.
