Latvia’s Job Vacancy Rate Higher Than EU Average in Third Quarter 2021: Eurostat Data

In the third quarter of this year, the average level of job vacancies in Latvia was higher than in the European Union (EU), expressed as a percentage of the ratio of the total number of available vacancies to all jobs in the economy – already occupied and vacant.

This is evidenced by the comparative data published on Monday by the EU statistical office “Eurostat”.

In Latvia, the vacancy rate in the third quarter was 2.8%. The highest vacancy rates in July-September were in Belgium (4.7%), the Netherlands (4.5%), Austria (4.2%), Germany (4.1%) and the Czech Republic (3.5%).

The average vacancy rate in the EU was 2.6% in the third quarter, and 2.9% in the eurozone.

In both Lithuania and Estonia, the vacancy rate was 2%, but the lowest vacancy rate was in Romania and Bulgaria – 0.8% in both countries.
