100 NBA journalists and broadcasters voted for the league’s best debutant. Morant won 99 of the top 100 seats in the vote, convincingly winning the league’s best debutant vote.
Of the Grizzlies players, Po Gasols last won the title in 2002.
The remaining first place in the vote went to the first issue of last year’s draft from New Zealand’s “Pelicans” Zao Williamson.
In the vote for the best player of the league, the first place was evaluated by five points, the second – by three points, and the third position was awarded one point. Morant scored a total of 498 points.
In second place with 204 points was Miami “Heat” player Kendrik Nans, but Williamson was in third place with 140 points.
This vote assessed the performance of basketball players until March 11, when the season had to be suspended for several months due to the rapid spread of Covid-19.
Sowing games, which were held in Orlando from July 30 to August 14 to determine the final distribution of seats before the “play-off”, were not taken into account in this vote.
By March 11, Morant had an average of 16.6 points and 6.9 assists in the game.
In 59 games, the basketball player attacked the basket with 49.1% accuracy. During this time, he was only one of three NBA basketball players, who managed to score an average of 17 points in the game, pass six times, and complete the shots with 49% accuracy. The other two were LeBron James and Nicola Jokitch.
During the season, Morant scored “double-double” 11 times, but in the game on February 9 against Washington “Wizards” represented by Anžeja Pasčnik and Dāvis Bertāns, he stood out with “triple-double” – 27 points, ten rebounds and equally successful passes.
It is significant that in the statistics column – the points obtained in the fourth quarter – Morant took the ninth place in the whole league.
