In your free time: Greenwood Cemetery and Hispanic Society Museum

There you will find beautiful mausoleums, Victorian cherubs and gargoyles, and the enormous Gothic arch at the main entrance.

You can also visit “Battle Hill”, one of the highest points in Kings County and a fundamental site of the Battle of Brooklyn in 1776, during the War of Independence.

Greenwood Cemetery was founded in 1838 and is considered one of the most beautiful in the world.

It is located at 500 25th Street.

Admission is free and to get there you can take the R train to the 25th Street station.

And if you want to expand your cultural horizons, we recommend visiting the Museum and Library of the Hispanic Society, which exhibits 750 thousand objects and the largest collection of Spanish art and manuscripts outside of Spain.

The museum presents a variety of exhibitions each year.

A permanent feature of the museum is Valencian painter Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida’s Vision of Spain, which comprises 14 monumental oil paintings, commissioned in 1911.

The Hispanic Society Museum and Library is located at 613 West 155th Street in Washington Heights, Manhattan.

Admission is free and to get there you can take the 1 train to the Broadway and 157th Street station… Or the C Train to the 155th Street stop.

The Main Gallery is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 12 noon to 5 pm. The outdoor outdoor spaces are open every day, from 10 am to 5 pm.
