Grandma, I won’t die – you will give me to someone and I will live, says Toshko, who became a donor on the 3rd

  • Yanka Morcheva played in “Get Rich” for monument to his nephew
  • Wrote by hand the letter to the presenter Mikhail Bilalov, with his emotional participation all of Bulgaria

A 77-year-old woman touched the whole of Bulgaria from the seat of the popular TV game “Get Rich” with her cause – to earn money for a tombstone for her 21-year-old grandson. In March of this year, the young man died of brain death in the Veliko Tarnovo hospital after a severe craniocerebral injury. His relatives donated his organs and managed to give three people a chance at a new life.

“So I understand the resurrection. to donate instead of burying healthy organs to rot in the ground,

if there is the possibility of helping even one person to live. A part of our Toshko will live through him, ”says grandmother Yanka Morcheva from the village of Ledenik. She is a widow, she lives with her daughter Milkana and her two grandchildren Todor and Kaloyan, but their fate brings the worst.

The incident with 21-year-old Todor Sirmov, a third-year student of the “Information Technologies” major at Veliko Tarnovo University, is still shrouded in mystery. On the evening of March 6, the young man misses the last bus from Veliko Tarnovo to Ledenik at 19:30. He calls his mother and grandmother that he will be late. He will go to friends in the “Triangulnika” neighborhood, where he will wait for another young man to finish work and take him to the village, which is already like a neighborhood of the old capital.

“The front door of the unit opens remotely. He calls the guys and they open for him. They warn that the elevator is not working and you have to climb the stairs to the third floor. They wait for him for 5-6 minutes and when they see who does not come, they go looking for him so that the door does not open.

They find him lying on his back and unconscious

on the platform in front of the elevator. They immediately called 112. The police arrived in the third minute, the ambulance left on the 23rd”, said his mother and grandmother. Toshko was taken to the hospital, where they underwent emergency surgery that night due to a huge hematoma pressing on the brain.

“The operation was done around 1 in the morning and the next day they had to do a second scan to see if there was any brain activity. After the scan, Dr. Sibila Marinova informed me that he was brain dead. The condition is irreversible, for him there is no chance. He asked me if I agreed and I didn’t even wait for it to end. I said: “For a donor, yes!” says Mum Milkana. She remembers being prepared that her son might not live. When the neurosurgeon came out of the midnight operation, he said, “Only the law forced me to have this operation, it was so senseless to waste my time,” she recalls through tears.

Relatives still doubt that Toshko was the victim of a ridiculous accident.

He falls into a coma under strange circumstances. “First we are told that, going up, he failed to take the last step, he falls, hits his head somehow

in the elevator ball that broke and then falls backwards. However, it was later realized that there is no blood on the handle,” explains Grandma Yanka. Furthermore, the alcohol and drug tests of the young man are absolutely clean despite the insinuations heard that he was stoned and drunk. According to the two women, the investigation into the The incident is ongoing. It was initially conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Veliko Tarnovo, but was recently transferred to the National Investigative Service.

“Every night, when he gets up around one or two in the morning, I wake up and start thinking. What’s going on in my head, how it happened, it hurt. And I say to myself: My God, the time comes in that a monument should be made to this child. His mother has a loan to pay, with my pension he’s not going anywhere, I told myself that the only thing is to play in “Get Rich”. I decided to write them a letter , not by e-mail, but on paper, the old-fashioned way. I sent it in an envelope. I wrote that I was sure I would earn at least 1,000 BGN,” says Grandma Yanka.

She explains that her pension is low, and with a salary – for her daughter, two sons to study and keep a house, it’s not work. At first, everyone

at home they teased her that no one would pay attention to the letter,

they will throw it away somewhere. However, Grandma Yanka got a call from the show. She knows a lot and despite her years about her, her memory is useful.

“I was 10 years old in the Tarnovo radio factory, I was foreman of a Komsomol brigade at televisions. We were beginners. Only those who have not worked on a conveyor belt do not know what it is: 20 people, one to stop, 20 to stop. I had to know the everyone’s operations – if someone has to be absent, I’ll go immediately to replace him”, grandmother Yanka goes back to her youth. She then for 10 years she worked in the village school. She was a conductor, chair manager, secretary, treasurer—a girl for everything. Her work experience continued in the community library. Even before that, she was an active community activist.

“When Misho Bilalov asked me about “Dance with Sabers”, I immediately fired: Khachaturyan

But he didn’t ask me how I knew. It’s just that in those days there was a radio point in every house and they always said who was playing which piece. And from television, the dance itself made a strong impression on me. That’s why I memorized it,” explains the pensioner.

In her room, stuck in the wall, is the check for BGN 3,000, which she managed to earn with her participation. You have not received the amount yet. Under the terms, the profit will be transferred to you within 6 months after the broadcast. In March, however, she plans to call the team to send them to her. So it has been 1 year since the death of her nephew and a memorial plaque should be placed on her grave. You have already chosen the monument. It will be in the shape of a heart and an angel, their angel.

“I dreamed about him twice. The first time was on the third day after his death. I woke up like a kiss on the forehead, warmth. I opened my eyes and saw him next to me in his hood as he walked. Then he disappeared. The second time I dreamed of him in front of the house. I come home from work and he gets in the car and says to me: “Come on, mom, I’m going now,” says his mother.

The topic of donation was discussed in the family. They didn’t need anyone to convince them, such was the arrangement of the two boys. “He himself told me: “I, grandmother, will not die. You will give me to someone and I will be alive,” Grandma Yanka recalls. “A pity is something that can save a person if you throw it on the ground,” she repeats. affected people.

He also believes there should be doctors trained to talk to relatives of a brain dead person. “This person should find a way to calm you down at such a moment, to set you up. Apparently, there is a prepared person in Tarnovo, Dr. Sibila Marinova, that’s why there are so many donors from our hospital. I’m sure that there are many cases like ours, but when there is no one to welcome you,” reasoned the old woman.

Janka doesn’t know who the people who received her nephew’s organs are. She hopes they will seek a relationship with themselves. “I won’t ask for anything, just to give someone a hug. So my nephew will be back. That’s how I mean resurrection,” she says.

Encourage recipients to keep the organs they receive. Hope they don’t drink and live healthy, because health is the most precious thing.

Kidneys and livers were transplanted to a young man and two women

They regret that Toshko’s heart was not suitable for transplant. “Dr. Marinova told me that there are 4 patients waiting for a heart, and they are compatible. Surely one of the three would have received it, but when they brought it to Sofia, they already found out that it was damaged and unfit”, says the mother. She also dreams of hugging someone transplanted with her son’s organs. “I would tell them they have a piece of my son and me,” Milkana adds.
