After having shouted at the attempted coup and political machination, François Asselineau, confined to his country house in Nièvre, has locked himself in his usual convoluted legal explanations. The president of the People’s Republican Union (UPR), a party that advocates “Frexit”, is accused by a former collaborator of harassment and sexual assault. The 26-year-old plaintiff lodged a complaint Tuesday with the police station of his city of origin, in Allier. He also contacted a Parisian lawyer. Mathieu (1), who worked at the UPR between September 2019 and March 2020, as both press secretary and driver to François Asselineau, claims that the latter handled him for months and several times kissed against his will.
The young man’s accusations, “Incongruous and untrue, to which I give the most categorical denial”, said Asselineau, come to weigh weeks of crisis within the movement. 20 members
