Four people lost their lives following the overturning of a lifting platform on the site of a house under construction, Saturday afternoon in Saint-Léandre, Matanie.
For a reason unknown until now, the lifting platform on which were two men and two women overturned, explains Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec. The occupants then fell several meters to the ground.
Emergency services were called shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday. The incident occurred on private property on Principale Street.
On the spot, they noted the death of one of the people. The other three were in critical condition. Their deaths were finally confirmed in the evening.
The victims are aged 24 to 60 and are from Saint-Léandre and Rivière-du-Loup.
A technician from the forensic identification service and an investigator from the Sûreté du Québec were dispatched.
The tragedy led to the complete closure of a section of rue Principale, starting from route Blouin.
