Former editor of the First Channel, Ovsyanikova, is calling for the lifting of sanctions against Russia

This is evidenced by a statement on Ovsyanikov’s website. When it caused a wave of outrage, she deleted the text attached to it.

“Rusophobia is unacceptable. The Russian people do not have to take collective responsibility for what is happening in Ukraine. The blame for this lies solely with Vladimir Putin,” Ovsyanikov wrote.

She explained that she had objected to the sanctions imposed on Russia on the Italian airline RAI.

“Ordinary people suffer first and foremost. My disabled mother cannot buy the necessary medicine. My daughter cannot pay for school lunch with her virtual card. There is no sugar on the store shelves, sunflower oil and hygiene products run out,” Ovsyanikova lamented.

It has already been reported that on the evening of March 14 in the live news program “Vremja” (“Time”) of the First Channel, while the presenter of the program Ekaterina Andrejeva was talking about the government’s plans to ease the impact of sanctions, Ovsyanikova appeared behind her with a poster “NOWAR (no war). Stop the war, don’t believe the propaganda, here you lie. Russians against war.”

Even before the campaign, Ovsyanikov recorded a video apologizing for his involvement in propaganda and calling for an end to the war in Ukraine. The video was published on social media.

After the protest, Ovsyanikov was arrested and fined 30,000 rubles (about 250 euros) by a court. She was released, but the case against her can continue.

Ovsynikov already claimed that the Russian people were not to blame for Russia’s war against Ukraine.
