The family of Erik Jensen, the actor from the popular American series The Walking Dead (in Czech, Živí mrtví), is now experiencing difficult moments. The 53-year-old actor was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. However, Jensen’s family does not have the money for expensive treatment.
Another sad news hit the serial world. Actor Erik Jensen, who is known mainly from the series “The Walking Dead”, has terminal cancer. Because of the actor’s strike, he also has no money for treatment, so his family started a fundraiser on the portal GoFundMethe newspaper reported Los Angeles Time.
More than a third of the requested 300,000 dollars (roughly 7 million crowns) has already been collected in the collection, which is sponsored by Jensen’s wife, actress Jessica Blanková. A lot of fellow actors from the industry got involved, for example actor Nick Offerman and his wife and fellow actor Megan Mullally, or director Matt Shakman.
“The fourth stage is not a death sentence,” reads the description of the collection. “Erik is determined to get through this and is working incredibly hard to stay positive and fight for the dose,” it continues.
Doctors have discovered that the colon cancer has already metastasized to his liver, but they still say they may be able to use chemotherapy to shrink the tumors enough to operate and remove them.
Another fight
The cruel diagnosis came only about a year and a half after Jensen survived a ruptured aneurysm in his brain. “Erik’s aneurysm and now this diagnosis has put their family in an extremely precarious financial situation and they need a lot of help to get through the next year, pay for cancer treatment, keep their home and maintain some kind of stability for Sadie,” the fundraiser reads. Sadie is the actor’s 13-year-old daughter.
The strike of the actors’ unions has lasted for over 100 days. This week, the union returned to the negotiating table again with a major study. The writers’ strike ended after more than 140 days last month.
