Darmstadt (ots) – On Friday evening (May 8th) an 80-year-old Darmstadt cycled the Rhönring towards Frankfurter Straße. At the intersection with Frankfurter Strasse, he overlooked the red light of the traffic light system for cyclists for a reason that has not yet been clarified, crossed Frankfurter Strasse and collided with a crossing public transport tram. The cyclist was seriously injured in the collision and then had to be taken to a nearby hospital. The property damage to both vehicles is estimated at 4,000 euros.
