Covid-19 disease was detected for the first time in Brocēni municipality

Currently, the highest number of cases is in Riga, where 62 new infections have been registered, with the total number of Covid-19 cases reaching 783 in the capital.

New cases have also been registered in Jelgava, Rēzekne, Ventspils and Aizkraukle, Amata, Brocēni, Jēkabpils, Kocēni, Salaspils and Talsi counties.

Currently, the patients are registered in 76 counties. Among the municipalities affected by Covid-19, there is no longer a Grobiņa municipality, which no longer has Covid-19 patients.

Of the 188 cases registered on Friday, the highest number of cases is in the age group of 20 to 29 years, where the number of infected is 35. Each of the 29 cases is registered in the age groups of ten to 19 years and from 30 to 39 years. In turn, 21 cases were registered in the age groups from 40 to 49 years, from 50 to 59 years and from 60 to 69 years. 19 cases were registered in children under nine years of age and 13 patients were over 70 years of age.

During the week, the number of cases of Covid-19 increased especially among the population aged 50-64. Comparing the 41st week of the year with the 40th week, the number of infections has increased in all age groups, however, it has been the highest in the 50-64 age group. In this age group, the incidence rates have increased by 102%. The incidence among the population over 65 years of age has increased by 61.7%. An increase is also observed in the 15-49 age group (+ 23.6%) and among children (+ 9.4%).

The highest number of new cases of Covid-19 to date, 188 infected, was reported last day for the second day in a row. A person infected with Covid-19 in the age group of 60 to 65 also died last day.

5,332 Covid-19 examinations were performed in the last day, which is the highest number of tests performed per day so far. Meanwhile, a total of 388,281 examinations have been performed in Latvia so far, 3,392 persons have become ill, and 1,329 have recovered.

The proportion of positive cases against those tested last day was 3.5%. The SPCC has previously explained that this figure is considered important in the European Union, as above 3%, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.

According to the National Health Service, a total of 11 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized last day. A total of 69 patients are treated in hospital, of whom 63 have a moderate course of disease and six have a severe course of the disease. At the same time, 12 patients were discharged from the hospital during the previous day, thus a total of 281 patients were discharged from the hospital, including both recovered and dead.
