Caterers could be allowed to reduce the area for one person

At present, caterers are required to comply with the Covid-19 limit of at least four square meters of indoor space per person.

Wittenberg said that negotiations with the Ministry of Health (MoH) had resulted in a compromise to reduce the area to three square meters.

“As a minister, I am pleased with all the relief. The Ministry of Economy came up with a proposal that the four-square-meter limit for caterers should be lifted. The compromise could be three square meters,” the politician said.

Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (JV) said that tomorrow the government will look at the proposals developed by the Ministry of Justice regarding the restrictions introduced due to Covid-19. However, the Prime Minister did not specify whether and what easing of restrictions could be assessed.

The restrictions introduced so far are valid until June 30.
