British Heart Foundation Recommends Balanced Diet for Heart Health

Al-Marsad newspaper: The British Heart Foundation recommends eating a balanced diet to help protect against heart disease.

The diet includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates, and healthy fats, such as: olive oil, protein, and dairy products. However, you should reduce your intake of saturated fats, salt, and sugar. According to the British Express newspaper.

Kerry Bisson, a British nutritionist, advised increasing your intake of berries.

“Berries, such as blueberries, blackberries, acai berries, cranberries, and goji berries, are some of the best fruits you can eat if you are looking to support heart health,” she said.

She continued: “Berries contain high levels of antioxidants called anthocyanins.”

“These pigments, which give red, blue and purple fruits and vegetables their vibrant colour, have been shown to reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol and blood pressure and also combat the harmful effects of oxidative stress,” she added.
